Governance, Accountability and Strategic Oversight
Groundwork North Wales was established in 1991 and serves communities across North Wales from our head office in Wrexham.
As a registered charity, we are governed by an independent Board of Trustees that provides strategic oversight, accountability, and long-term direction.
Strong governance underpins everything we deliver.
Our Governance Role
Trustees work closely with the executive team while maintaining independent oversight.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for:
- Setting strategic direction
- Ensuring financial sustainability
- Monitoring organisational performance
- Upholding legal and regulatory compliance
- Safeguarding the charity’s mission and values
For partners, funders, and commissioners, this ensures structured governance and responsible decision-making.
Representative and Cross-Sector Leadership
Our Board reflects the communities and sectors we work with.
It includes representatives from:
- Local authorities
- The public sector
- The private sector
- The voluntary and community sector
This cross-sector representation strengthens:
- Strategic alignment
- Regional understanding
- Collaborative working
- Balanced oversight
It also ensures that decisions are informed by diverse professional experience across North Wales.
