The Clywedog Valley Partnership has been hosting a series of engaging open days at Minera Lead Mines in partnership with Minera Quarry Trust, bringing to life the rich industrial heritage of the Clywedog Valley.

These events have successfully showcased the fascinating shared history between the Minera Lead Mines and Minera Quarry through informative talks and captivating pop-up exhibitions, highlighting the industrial legacy that has shaped the Clywedog Valley. The open days have offered visitors a more comprehensive understanding of the area's historical importance.
Recently we were lucky to be able to have Peter Appleton attend and speak to attendees at an open day event. Peter is an experienced explorer of the cave systems beneath Minera Quarry. Peter led an illuminating guided walk around the site, sharing his extensive knowledge about mining practices and the industrial developments that defined this region's past. Participants were treated to insights that bring the valley’s history to life in vivid detail.
These events and others that have been held along the Clywedog Valley recently as part of the Clywedog Valley Partnership project have allowed visitors to make meaningful connections along the historically significant sites, through accessing previously untapped information accessible to visitors at the Minera Lead Mines visitor centre. These informative and captivating events have been made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Clywedog Valley Partnership, thanks to funding provided by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
