The Inspire! awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional individuals, families, community projects and organisations who have shown outstanding passion, commitment and drive to improve themselves, their community or workplace through learning.

As well as this, Groundwork North Wales were finalists with the Wood Shed project at Refurbs Flint and with the work our Energy Team has undertaken.

Our Wood Shed project provides a welcoming friendly environment, giving unemployed or retired individuals an opportunity to come together, learn new skills and practice old ones in a relaxed, welcoming, and friendly environment.

Activities include repairing furniture, creating small wooden craft pieces such as planters and bird boxes for resale and joining in various ‘expert’ workshops.

Lisa Jones, Project Manager for Wood Shed said: “We’re delighted to receive this recognition for such a special project. It’s important that we provide a welcoming environment to combat the stigma around mental health”.

The Energy Team at Groundwork North Wales help households stay warm, stay well, save money on their household bills and reduce carbon. With the aim to support the people who most need our support, our staff are as good with people as they are with technical know-how.

Lorna Crawshaw, Partners & Programs Director said: “It’s important now more than ever to ensure that homes are provided with the knowledge of saving money on their household bills. It’s great to see the hard work that the Energy Team are carrying out nominated for this award”.

The awards are a great lead-in to Adult Learning Week, which will take place from 17th – 23rd October 2022 with opportunities available across the month. Whether you are looking for a new direction, boost confidence, to brush up on your skills, improve your job opportunities, seek some advice and guidance on a qualification, or you may simply want to learn something new.

Groundwork North Wales will be holding taster sessions during Adult Learning Week, with training sessions such as confidence building and IT available to book.
