Thanks to funding from the City of Culture 2025 bid and support from the 3 Counties Connected Railway partnership
we will be hosting a Lantern Parade on March 1st, 2023, in Wrexham City centre, celebrating Welsh culture and heritage.
The parade to be held on St David’s day evening is also set to promote a sustainability message by using recyclable materials for the lanterns in the parade. Community lantern workshops will be available in the run-up to the parade as well as primary school workshops (lanterns are to be lit with LED tea lights and string lights. No naked flames will be used). If you are unable to attend a workshop detail on how to make a lantern at home can be downloaded from HERE.
Hanna Clarke, Head of Marketing and Events at Groundwork North Wales said
“It is fantastic to be able to bring a new event to Wexham’s City centre, not only celebrating Welsh culture and heritage but promoting a message of sustainability for future generations. We hope with the support of the local community and businesses we can make this an annual event”.
Groundwork North Wales is looking for local community choirs, dance, and performance groups who would like to perform alongside the parade and for local businesses that would be interested in sponsoring the community and primary school workshops.
