Free family outdoor events this summer from Groundwork North Wales and Wild Ground
The summer holidays are the perfect time to embrace the great outdoors. If you’re looking to entertain the kids and fancy some nature-based fun activities, then Groundwork North Wales and Wild Ground have planned free fun family activities this July and August to keep everyone entertained.
They have exciting bioblitz sessions, pond dipping and treasure hunts to keep boredom at bay, also on offer are bat walks, nature trails and history walks to discover. With such a variety of events, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
Groundwork North Wales, the environment charity based near Wrexham have events based around three sites, the Plas Power Nature Reserve where the charity is based, Minera Lead Mines and nature reserves in the Connah’s Quay area. The fun kicks off on the 23rd July 2021 with two Bioblitz events exploring local nature. One in Connah’s Quay and the other at Plas Power.
Other exciting events are a guided nature walk around nature reserves in Connah’s Quay and an evening Bat Walk at Broadoak Nature Reserve.

Wild Ground run and mange Nature Reserves throughout North East Wales and they also have a programme of fun free family activities this summer with events taking place at several of their nature reserves. Themes range from exploring nature and history with guided walks at Maes y Grug and Glascoed nature reserves, to a Natures’ Treasure Hunt event at their Johnstown Nature Reserve, plus much more.
