In a bid to tackle loneliness and isolation among older adults in the community, Refurbs Buckley is bringing back its popular Winter Warmer sessions.
Starting in January, these events will provide an inviting space for individuals aged 55 and over to socialize, meet new friends, and enjoy warm refreshments.
The sessions will take place from 12pm on the following dates:
13th and 27th January
10th and 24th February
10th and 24th March
The initiative is funded through the Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme, administered by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA). The aim is to foster a sense of community and support for those who may feel lonely or isolated during the colder months.
“We’re thrilled to bring these events back to our community,” Katy Turner, Café Manager, said. “These events last year were very well attended, showing how much community events like these are needed.”
Community members interested in attending are encouraged to register by emailing events@refurbs.org.uk
This initiative highlights the power of local action in building connections and improving mental well-being.
