Check out our half-term events
This February half term the team at Wild Ground are really pleased to be able to offer fun free family events at a selection of the nature reserves they run and manage across North East Wales.
There is a variety of different events to suit families who enjoy outdoor nature-based activities. This starts with a family-friendly history walk through Broadoak Wood in Connah’s Quay Flintshire on Tuesday 22nd February. The event aims to improve health and nature connectedness and starts at Meeting at 2.30 pm at Broadoak Wood Nature Reserve front gate.
On Thursday 24th February there is a drop-in tree planting session starting at 1 pm at Knowle Hill nature reserve near Buckley, Flintshire. Families are invited to come and plant a tree for each child in their family. Each tree will be numbered and mapped so your tree can be visited in future years. This will then form the basis of a new community woodland.
Join Wild Ground at Stryt Las nature reserve in Johnstown, Wrexham on Friday 25th Feb to build a bird box to take home or leave at the nature reserve. The event takes place between 1 pm - 3 pm.
Although aimed at 14 years plus Wild Ground also have a hedge laying taster day on Thursday 24th February at their Broughton nature reserve 10 am - 2 pm. Again, this is a free event learning all about the traditional craft of hedge laying. Wild Ground staff will demonstrate the basics of hedge-laying for participants to try out for themselves. This event is suitable for beginners aged 14+ and booking is essential for this event.
Please call Wild Ground on 01978 757524 or email info@wild-ground.org.uk to book a slot on the half-term events and let them know you are coming.
