Free family-focused outdoor events this half term.
If you are looking for children's activities in the school holidays, Groundwork North Wales, Our Back Yard and Wild Ground are all running free family-focused outdoor events this half term.
To kick off half term on Saturday, May 29th there is a Family Day out at Minera Lead Mines, in Minera near Wrexham from 11 am. This will be a great opportunity for a first look at the newly renovated interpretation centre at the Lead Mines together with the opportunity to take part in a variety of family-friendly outdoor activities.
Guided tours of this historic site will take place at 11.30 am 1 pm and 2.30 pm. Places on the Lead Mines tours are limited and we are asking people to book on info@groundworknorthwales.org.uk.
On Wednesday, June 1st both the Our Back Yard and Wild Ground have family events taking place at different locations.
From 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm, there is a Meet the Amphibians event at Wild Grounds’ Glascoed Nature Reserve near St Asaph, LL17 0JA. Come along and meet frogs, toads and newts, with pond dipping and a scavenger hunt plus more fun activities. Booking is essential, please email info@wild-ground.org.uk and outdoor shoes/wellies are recommended.
In Connah’s Quay, Flintshire, the Our Back Yard team have a free Craft in the Community Gardens event with an afternoon of nature-based crafts and activities planned at the Community Gardens in the town, which are located behind the job Centre. Parking is available at the Flintshire Council car park adjacent.
This is a free family-friendly drop-in session and booking is not essential. The event will run from 1:30 – 3:30 pm with a scavenger hunt, nature crafts and refreshments available
