The Healthy River Community project aims to provide opportunities for people to use and enjoy the natural environment around the river, improve river habitat and health, and educate the community on how to protect rivers.
The project is funded by National Lottery Community Fund and will provide opportunities for the community to enjoy their local outdoor space at the historic King's Mill site in Wrexham.
This project will focus on the River Clywedog in King's Mills and the surrounding area in Wrexham, activities in this project will include:
- Volunteer sessions – litter picks, removing invasive plants, and practical habitat improvements
- Activity sessions for families – crafts, bioblitzes, and river-dipping
- Educational awareness
- Wildlife surveying and ID sessions
- And much more
We will be offering regular weekly volunteer sessions each Wednesday from 10am – 1pm with the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy the environment, help wildlife, and learn new skills.
No experience is needed to volunteer for this project, everyone is welcome. If you’d like to get involved and become a volunteer, please contact Luisa on 01978 757 524 / luisa.citra@groundworknorthwales.org.uk
